1. Core Cutting Direction & Working Principle

High-Speed Slitter
 
It performs longitudinal cutting parallel to material running direction with spaced rotary circular knives, splitting one wide master roll into multiple narrow continuous strips during roll-to-roll unwinding and rewinding. The whole process is continuous without breaking the material web; finished products are small finished coils after rewinding. Three mainstream cutting types: shear slitting, razor slitting and crush slitting for different flexible substrates.
Cross-Cutter (Cut-to-Length Machine)
 
It executes transverse cutting perpendicular to material feed direction, cutting full-width material at fixed preset lengths one by one. After each cross shear, raw coil is converted into separated flat single sheets instead of rolls, equipped with automatic stacking device for finished sheets collection.

2. Final Output Form

  • High-speed slitter: Multiple narrow-width small rolls (coiled goods for secondary compounding, printing, rewinding)
  • Cross-cutter: Separate flat individual sheets (sheet stock ready for die-cutting, box making, direct finished packaging)

3. Running Speed & Production Mode

High-speed slitter supports uninterrupted continuous high-speed operation (typically 200–500 m/min), perfect for mass long-run coil converting and large-batch continuous production.
 
Cross-cutter runs in intermittent feeding & cutting cycle; speed is calculated by pieces per minute, suitable for fixed-length small-batch sheet production rather than endless coil processing.

4. Precision Control Focus

  • Slitter: Mainly controls width tolerance of each slit strip, high precision on transverse dimension; adopts closed-loop tension control to avoid wrinkling & uneven edge during winding.
  • Cross-cutter: Focuses on length precision of finished sheets, servo-length positioning ensures uniform cut length across full material width.

5. Applicable Materials & End Industries

High-Speed Slitter: BOPP/PET film, adhesive stock, aluminum foil, nonwoven, kraft paper, battery separator; widely used in flexible packaging, label, lamination, electronics raw material pre-processing.
 
Cross-Cutter: White cardboard, corrugated paper, printing compound sheet, thick plastic sheet; applied in carton making, cigarette package, gift box, printed trademark finished cutting.

Choose high-speed slitter if your downstream needs continuous coiled raw materials for subsequent slitting/laminating; pick cross-cutter when finished flat sheets are required for direct die-cut & forming.
